Hi, welcome to my blog! My name is Erin and I'm embarking on an incredible journey in 2010. Last weekend I registered for my first Ironman triathlon in Tempe, Arizona. Completing 140.6 miles of an Ironman has always been a life goal and I'm finally taking the steps to reach this goal. This blog is an effort to keep track of my training, share my thoughts and hopefully inspire others to tackle their impossible dreams.

I started running when I was in elementary school. I considered myself the fastest kid on the playground and gladly accepted a challenge to run the 50 yard dash. I ran for a summer running club for years until I reached the 14 year age limit. In middle school, I was sure I was the perfect sprinter until my coach turned me on to middle and long distance running. Since then, I've finished 9 marathons, including Boston, Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Hartford, and hope to run one in every state. After I felt like I had sufficiently conquered the marathon challenge, triathlon was next. I started with a sprint triathlon and quickly moved to the olympic and half-ironman distances. So, the Ironman seems to be the natural progression! I'm incredibly humbled by the challenge ahead and I realize that my life as an athlete is about to change dramatically.

A few final thoughts:

Think positively, each and every day. I have what it takes to do this. I have the courage to go after it, 100% knowing that there are going to be great times and hard times. In the end it is the toughest who come out on top, the ones who did everything in their power to make their dreams a reality.

It's going to be an amazing year, won't you come along for the ride?
